Hrutafjardara: Salmon fishing
in this little gem of a river (3 rods) was a little below average,
producing 160 salmon. The average catch is usually over 200, including
many big fish. Several large fish were caught last season, with
the biggest at 21lb, on 26th July. |

As I have been extremelly busy this spring there has been little time to produce regular newsletters. But, at last, here is the latest fishing news and developments. |

Fishing season kicks off at the Minnivallalæk trout river!
|
Things did not
look promising when anglers in Minnivallalækur lodge woke
up on the morning of 1 April. The temperature was below minus 5
Celcius, and a raw north wind blew all day. Were we April Fools?
Tungulækur also opened on the same day, when the landowner
traditionally has the first two days' fishing. |

Last openings for Iceland in 2003

The current
spring-like weather we're experiencing in Iceland brings with it
thoughts of summer and a return to the rivers. The season will soon
be here so it is time to tell you about the exciting opportunities
still available for 2003. |
