2007: A wierd season with a happy ending
We have closed the book on the seaon of 2007. It had it’s ups and downs but looking at the big picture, we are very satisfied with the end product. All our rivers came through and delivered despite the long standing devastating droughts. For instance, Hrúta had it’s fifth best season ever, Laxá í Nesjum it’s second best ever season and the Jökla project went far better than we had dared to hope for.

The season is winding down with great
Breiðdalsá is doing quite well these days and the norm is 20 to 30 salmon pr. day by average. Our statistic is nearly 700 salmon making our last week’s total near 100 salmon which is not bad on eight rods. The river is full of salmon, many of them mws’s and there are still fresh fish running. All the beats are active and many of the pools are seriously packed with fish.

Angling News
Following a very dry and slow start to the 2007 salmon season, things are finally looking up on our main rivers! Our number one and two are the Breðdalsá and Hrútafjarðará and they are both known late starters, so we remained patient as the draughts raged throughout the country week in and week out, rendering many a good volume river to mere streams and trickles.

Angling News
The Breiðdalsá has been opened for 2007 and we are feeling quietly confident with the start. Every river in Iceland has had a slow start, there are few mws-salmon, the grilse have been late and most of the rivers are caught up in a draught.

Slow start to the salmon season
Here in Iceland we have had an unusually slow start to the salmon season despite many of the rivers being opened at later dates than usual. It is thought that bad timing for the highest tides of June has conspired to make this the worst start to a salmon season for probably decades. Still, the signs are good that we will have the runs in sooner than later.

We open up in a few days!
The Icelandic angling season officially starts April 1rst which happens to be next Sunday. One of our rivers opens that day, our little brown trout haven Minnivallalækur. We usually have an explosive start on the “Minni” with the browns having been rested from the marauding anglers since last year!
